Waldo Weathers

Waldo comes with credentials. He played with the “Godfather of Soul”, James Brown and his band for 12 years and was given an award by the Country Music Hall of Fame for being the First Black Country Sax Player to break into the Nashville scene. Bringing a smooth Jazz, Funk and Gospel mix to country music, Waldo has played with artists like Johnny Taylor and backed up Charlie Pride for over 10 years.

Waldo recorded a Christmas song with his daughter, Kristen, in 2002 that is one of the greatest Christmas songs ever. It is being released for the first time in conjunction with Waldo and BMJ starting the production of a new CD to be released in the summer of 2008. It promises to blend the sound of all the music that Waldo has been associated with into a sound that is truly “Waldo’s.” He plays from the heart and his soulful approach to whatever he is involved with comes through in his saxophone. He likes to call it “Saxual Fulfillment”!

He comes from Kentucky but has made Nashville his home. He continues to do session work and plays out with a select group of musicians in the Nashville area. His schedule is on his website and he is definitely worth going out to see for a great night on the town.
