Quintana Roo
Sunrise and morning skies are turqouise blue
Midnight in sweet paradise right here on Quintana Roo
Senorita sing to me your sweet sweet song
Sing the whole night through
We could have such a good time right here on Quintana Roo

Take my hand and we'll stroll in the sand the way that young lovers do
Alone among friends, the fun never ends right here on Quintana Roo
Senorita sing to me your sweet sweet song
Sing the whole night through
We could have such a good time right here on Quintana Roo

  • Notes - Quintana Roo was written about Hoffman's second honeymoon in Cancun,Mexico. Quintana Roo is the Mexican state where Cancun lies. Les and wife arrived home at Cincinnati International Airport on September 11th, 2001 at 1:00 a.m. in the morning. Just hours before the 9/11 tragedy.

The Gift
You - you've got what I want
You - you've got what I need
I ain't ever been the type of boy to wear his heart on his sleeve

You give me something that I ain't had before
I sit patiently waiting for your knock, knock, knocking on my door
I shutter the thought I'd lose you
I shutter the thought I'd take your hand
I can't live like this forever I'm not a one woman man

You - you've got what I want
You - you've got what I need
I ain't ever been the type of boy to wear his heart on his sleeve

You give me something that I can't live without
So I sit patiently waiting
Is that what this gig called love's about?
I shutter the thought I'd lose you
I shutter the thought I'd take your hand
I can't live like this forever I'm not a one woman man

21st Century

Does the morning leave you restless for the life that you'd left behind?
I can see it in your eyes but it comes and goes with no surprise
Though the clock decrees the midnight and this evening is so fine
Is it the music or the wine or the stars shining in your eyes?

I won't analyze - Please don't scream
We're so twenty-first century

Don't the view just leave you breathless?
Isn't the street a symphony?
Come fly away with me
We'll fly

Chamomile and Steinbeck
Kerouac and Claire De Lun
Just to satisfy the moon
Are you satisfied

I won't apologize
Please don't scream
We're so twenty-first century

  • Notes - 21st Century was written by Rob over The Family Secret's holiday break. The track is actually three seperate references to events happening over that holiday week within the Hoffman family.

St. Michael

I said goodbye to Hollywood and the all night picture shows
A word in my defense I ain't ever had much common sense
In that place where you go big or stay at home

I kissed my babies on the head and smiled - told'm daddies gotta go
But I'll be home pretty soon and each night if you'll stare up at the moon
An know that daddy is somewhere down below

You can't call that living - when you're living day to day
If there's a moment to spare could you say a prayer
For St. Michael to guide my way

Said goodbye to promises I've been lied to before
I ain't so naive that I'd honestly believe
But you never really know for sure

You can't call that living - but I'm living day to day
If there's a moment to spare could you say a prayer
For St. Michael to guide my way

  • Notes - Archangel St. Michael expelled Lucifer from Heaven and is the patron saint of children, travelers, and a guard against earthly temptations, among other things. The track, one that Hoffman feels is his best ever, was written about life in the music biz, the road, and seperation anxiety.

Ten Minutes to Go

Old movies and photographs
Frozen moments in some forgotten past
You live each moment as though it were your last
You still got ten minutes to go

You shake your tail like you's a runway queen
And all the heres and theres and the in betweens
Don't amount to nothing but a hill of beans
When you ain't got but ten minutes to go

I've been looking for a new direction and trying hard not to let it show
But I know - that I ain't got but ten minutes to go

Don't sacrifice the magic for the dull routine
Don't hide the mystery in all the songs you sing
Don't pretend that someday you're gonna be the king
You ain't got but ten minutes to go

Don't flaunt it, flirt or giggle in a flash it's gone
You'll be preaching to the pulpit on somebodies lawn
You think you've got it but I think that you're wrong
You ain't got but ten minutes to go

The grass is greener and the beer is free
And it's one helluva way to spend reality
If you ain't but a generation from the trees
You ain't got but ten minutes to go

  • Notes - Ten Minutes to Go is a parody of reality tv and microwavable entertainment. The theme is based on the 15 minutes of fame premise. Hoffman said he took into consideration the current economic state of the country and rounded off the number to equate with the cost of living. Fifteen minutes of fame is now just ten.

Time Ain't Nothing - version 2.0

If I ever get out of this place first thing that I'm gonna do
Is catch myself a Greyhound bus and bring it on home to you
I've been reading your letters and kinda hoping that this short bit of time
Might bring us closet together but baby if you only change your mind

Coz - time ain't nothing but hands on a clock

I was sitting here thinking bout a boy round the age of nine
Just sitting there praying and crying as his daddy died
I ain't blaming past history on all the reasons that I'm here inside
Baby I'll be a different man but baby if you only change your mind

Coz - time ain't nothing but hands on a clock

One More Cigarette

I like to dream but I got no regrets
Have another glass of wine and one more cigarette
I feel the earth shake beneath my feet
I ain't just another fool on the street

The sun rises and sets
One more cigarette

I gotta go but I ain't finished yet
Have another beer and one more cigarette
I feel the earth beginning to sway beneath my feet
I'll have another and make my way back down the street

The sun it rises and sets
And I got one more cigarette

Dug Myself a Hole

I dug myself a hole
I dug myself a hole
I keep prayin' coz the good book says
That the Lord's comin' to save my soul

I ain't the type to testify
Lord said you've gotta walk before you can fly
I look around and all that I see
Ain't no one to blame but me

I dug myself a hole
I dug myself a hole
I keep prayin' coz the good book says
That the Lord's comin' to save my soul

The mountain's high
The river's wide
I keep waiting for the sun to shine
Ain't nobodies fault but mine

Dear Catherine - version 2.0

It blows my mind girl you're so beautiful
Your eyes shine like the stars up above in the sky
I'm drawn to you like a moth is to a flame my dear
Don't ask me why

I know the sun do rise in the morning to see your pretty smile
I've known for years - you tried to hide it but I knew all the while
That trail of tears couldn't save you but it hurt me when I tried to explain
Don't ask me why

I know the sun is in the morning and the moon in the evening
And the stars come shining through because they love you
The way that I do
Today, tonight forever, You know I'll never ever be away from your side
You'r always on my mind and I don't know why

It blows my mind something sacred but I don't know what it is
It shines like the moon and I feel it every time I kiss your lips
I'm drawn to you don't ask me it hurts me when I try to explain
Don't ask me why
